Make Up Monday: Make Up From Forever 21

GOOD MORNING GUYS. Happy Monday! This week for make up Monday I have a nice little treat for you... pictures of me!

Today I will be reviewing some make up from Forever 21. I was only slightly aware that they had make up for sale now but was not particularly interested in it. Well, until last week when I was in line buying a steal of a dress for $10 that fit me perfectly. As I was waiting in the ridiculously long line (because the store had just reopened after a remodel and was HUMONGOUS!) I looked down and saw the cute eyeshadow. I don't typically like to wear dark eyeshadow on the regular for fear of looking like Taylor Momsen and being mistaken for a raccoon. Then I saw the price and then the blush (because I *gasp* didn't own any blush) and then I couldn't help myself with the lipstick.

Terrible cellphone pictures continue!

So I am not an overly large fan of the eyeshadow. There was a ton of fall out and while I loved the fact that there was gold glitter instead of the usual silver like their typically is with anything of a charcoal or gun metal color, it did not show on the eyelid. Basically the color was the only good thing about it and even then I have plenty of grays or a black that go on better. So I will say no to the eyeshadow, but hey, good thing I didn't spend a lot on it right?

The blush went on perfectly and I highly recommend that if you are looking for something inexpensive or if you do not use blush often, like myself.

The lipstick too I would recommend, although not highly, if you want something creamy and bright. The con's on this are that it does smear and come off easily (it was not implied that it was long lasting mind you) and it also dries out your lips. You'll definitely need to continually check for coverage but for an inexpensive lipstick it does exactly what is expected of it. I love that color too.

All in all, I would say not bad. Now does that mean that inexpensive make up is better than more expensive make up and vise versa? Kind of. You get what you pay for and make up is no exception. There are things you can get by with and things you can't. Forever 21 doesn't allow returns on make up or jewelry so even though I didn't like the eyeshadow I can't return or exchange it. At Sephora, where I'll pay $12+ for eyeshadow, if I hate it I can bring it back and get something else that I might like. So while I paid $1.80 for eyeshadow I now have a product I'm most likely going to never use again. I just threw away $1.80. I've never "thrown away" something I purchased from other companies but I could always exchange what I didn't like and maybe I'm crazy but I will pay more for that service. I don't believe in being ultimately stuck with something I don't love. It's hard for me to stop at stores with strict return policies like Forever 21. When it comes to make up you have to weight value over dollar signs. As I have again proved today, cheaper isn't better it's just cheaper.

And that's it for this week's Make Up Monday. Sorry for the crappy pictures. I am currently mulling over the idea of offering advertising on here to help raise funds for a camera. If you are interested, shoot me an e-mail as I am still deciding on prices, ad sizes, ect and getting in early will ensure you get the best deals. :)

P.S: Who else is still nursing their exploded ovaries from SNL this weekend? Joseph Gordon-Levitt had me gone in the first segment. If you didn't want it I have three words for you: Magic Mike Parody. Also, is it weird that I still found him attractive when he was dressed like a woman? No? Ok good.
